Description
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant found in every cell of the body. It is made up of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine. Amino acids combine in different patterns to make all the proteins in the body. Glutathione is produced by every cell of the body, with especially high levels in the liver.
Glutathione has many important functions, including:
- Making DNA, the building blocks of proteins and cells
- Supporting immune function
- Breaking down some free radicals
- Helping certain enzymes function
- Working synergistically with vitamins C and E
- Promote mercury elimination from the body
- Helping the liver and gallbladder deal with fats
- Assisting regular cell death (a process known as apoptosis)
- May improve insulin resistance in older individuals
Researchers have found links between low levels of glutathione and some diseases.
Contraindications:
- Do not take if you are allergic to glutathione or to any of the excipients.
- Its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.
